Canada is one old lady

Happy 143rd birthday to my home and native land.  To celebrate, I will not go to work, be productive in any way, and drive a couple of hours using up your natural resources and major roadways.  Thanks, Canada!

First of all, can I just mention that I slept 9.5 hours last night?  It was epic.

I started off this day by pitting and freezing some cherries.  It is one of my favourite hobbies, y’see.  Then I decided to take an oatmeal spin on Oh She Glow’s Cherry Banana Coconut Butter Bread for breakfast.  I cooked 1/3rd cup of rolled oats in 2/3rd cups of water and added these magical toppings:

  • Pitted cherries
  • 1/2 banana, mashed
  • Cinnamon
  • Plain non-fat yogurt
  • Shredded coconut
  • Almond butter

I was pretty excited to create this:

My only complaint about this breakfast is that it wasn’t filling enough.  Next time, I would make more oatmeal to fill this growing belly of mine.  But have no fear!  I can now spend the morning filling up on coffee while watching Gilmore Girls on DVD.  It wouldn’t be a day off from work without some Lorelai, Rory, Kirk, Miss Patty, and, of course, Sookie!

    Don’t you love how blogging creates extra dishes? I enjoyed the pics, so it was worth it!

    Enjoyed seeing “Sookie” mentioned. I’ve read the books and need to watch the show.

      I’m glad you enjoyed the pics! I want to get better with including more than just “final dishes”. More pictures of the prep, and more pictures of my life including me which will be in my next entry. You’re welcome, Internet 😉

      I am mentioning the character Sookie from Gilmore Girls. Is that who you are referring to?

    Happy Canada day!

    Yes, I’m pregnant (again) and about 28 weeks. I’ve tried having a “food and fitness blog”, but since I already have one just about my son I couldn’t keep up with it. It was ok when my son was a baby and slept a lot, but a 2.5 year old demands a lot of attention…

    Anayways, I’m so happy to read yours! A love reading food blogs and that you’re also pregnant and have a nice writing style makes it even better. Keep up the good work.

      Yes, I think keeping the blog will be a great hobby during my maternity leave and a nice way to stay connected to the “outside world”, but once Baby becomes mobile, then I’m not sure how the blogging will work out 🙂
