Friday night in the big city!
Wow, this is a late post for me. Usually, I am an hour into dreamland by 11 pm! But it’s Friday night, my babies! We just got home from the house-warming party and I had to update. I am also pleased to report that today I’ve received the most visits to my blog so far, so thank you for that! If I could share a blueberry scone with you, you know I would.
For a snack today, I had an exact repeat of yesterday’s! But I took new pictures today because I am authentic. Hehe.
I was so glad it was Friday afternoon and I was free for the rest of the day! I met up with Husband down at Yonge and Dundas and we went to Spring Rolls for dinner. We even scored a seat on the patio.
Question: Are these shades too big for my face? I bought them the day before I went on a cruise. I have a theory that people tend to buy flashier-than-normal accessories when they are going on a cruise. Something about the imminent sea air makes them crazy? I think these are too flashy for me. They are Jessica Simpson-brand!
Anyway, I ended up ordering red curry with veggies and tofu for dinner.
It was absolutely delicious! Spring Rolls isn’t so bad after all.
I always start out with chopsticks because they slow me down, but towards the end when I’m having trouble picking up the rice, I switch to a fork. I’m a lightweight!
I ate the whole thing. Would you expect anything less? 🙂
For dessert, a mini-package of Mike and Ike’s that Husband picked up as a free sample (random!)
We stopped at the liquor store on our way to the party. It was so crowded! I guess a Friday at 5:00 pm on a beautiful, sunny June afternoon will do that.
The party was right by the lake in a condo next to the Roger’s Centre. The walk there was gorgeous, but sweaty. Especially carrying a six-pack of beer (for Husband, not me. Imagine the looks I’d get being a pregnant lady with a six-pack!).
This is what the CN Tower looked like on our way there:
And this is what it looked like on our way home!
I didn’t take any pictures at the party, but it was Mexican-themed. I consumed:
- 1 mango juice
- 6 or so appetizer-sized quesadillas filled with brie and mushrooms
- 2 appetizer-sized veggie burritos
- 8-10 chips with guacamole
We didn’t stay too late because the party was filled with a bunch of smokers. I am not a huge fan of smoke to begin with, but the wee fetus is definitely not a fan.
On our walk home, we had a mad craving for ice cream! Not just any ice cream — soft serve ice cream from an ice cream truck! Usually there is one parked right by the Roger’s Centre, but since there was no baseball game tonight, there was no ice cream truck! Sad face X 10. 😦
We almost got some soft serve from McDonald’s, but then I saw a Jugo Juice. I thought about my health, my fetus, my blog, and I thought – make it juice, Robyn. Make it juice.
So I did!
I had a 150 calorie “wacky watermelon” juice that contained watermelon, mango, and tropical nectar. Very refreshing. The more I buy these smoothies out and about, though, the more I think I need to stick to my trusty Green Monsters. There is simply no comparison!
Someone is a Chicago Black Hawks fan. I am not naming names.
So that was my Friday night! Now I am cuddled up on the couch with my Husband, Dr. Snuggles, and the remote control. Tomorrow morning I will head to the grocery store to buy FRUIT!!!
