Best day ever?
Today I am meeting up with friends to go see Sex and the City 2!!! I am excited, even though this movie has received horrible reviews and is based on materialism and vanity. I. Just. Don’t. Care. It is total fun, escapist, girly goodness. Seeing it with girlfriends makes it even better. I saw the first movie with my husband and he just had a look of mild bemusement throughout. After the movie, we are going out for dinner at Fresh! This is a vegetarian mecca and definitely my favourite restaurant in the city. I’ve been there close to a million times (true story) and yet I still have a hard time choosing from the menu. Check it out if you want to salivate.
Well, this morning, I woke up early and headed to the grocery store. I tried to buy more organic produce. I stuck to my usual apples and spinach, but I did branch out and buy some organic broccoli! I couldn’t get myself to buy the organic peppers, though. $4.99 a pound? Yikes.
I shop at Loblaw’s and they have an awesome organic/natural foods section. I almost bought some Ezekiel bread on sale, but it was $4.99 too. When my usual whole grain loaf is around $2.50, it’s hard to spend twice as much. I have always wanted to try that kind, though. I did buy a Vega Whole Foods Raw Energy Bar!
It was $2.50 and I saw it at my local health store for $4.00 so I knew it was a relatively good deal. It will make a good snack for this afternoon.
For breakfast this morning, I was craving eggs. I had a really simple meal of:
- 2 eggs over easy
- 1 thin hamburger bun, toasted
- 2 handfuls of cherries (my first this year!)
I love cherries.
And eggs! With black pepper, of course.
It is now time for that most sacred of Saturday morning rituals. That is, to drink coffee and read the newspaper. I think for lunch I will take advantage of my bounty of bulgur as well as make a green monster using the almond milk I purchased today (which works out perfectly since I want to get a latte this afternoon. I feel like there’s a fine line between not enough dairy and TOO MUCH dairy, y’know?).
